Collectibles change quickly. Prices move, release dates shift, products are restocked or discontinued, and new information sometimes replaces what was previously known.
We also make mistakes.
When information published on Collect Chill is inaccurate, we want to correct it clearly and keep our articles useful. This policy explains what we correct, how we handle updates, and how readers can report an error.
What we correct
We correct factual errors that could make an article inaccurate or misleading.
These may involve:
- Product names or model numbers
- Release dates
- Retail or resale prices
- Availability
- Product specifications
- Materials and dimensions
- Editions and variants
- Stickers or packaging details
- Production information
- Retailer information
- Links
- Quotations
- Source attribution
We may also correct statements when better or more direct evidence shows that previously published information was inaccurate.
What is not a factual correction
Not every disagreement requires a correction.
Reviews, recommendations, design preferences, and opinions involve editorial judgment. A reader may dislike a collectible we recommend, disagree with our assessment of a product, or prefer a different retailer without the original article containing a factual error.
Those perspectives are still welcome, and we may reconsider an article when useful new information is provided.
Some questions involving rarity, production numbers, variants, and market value may also remain unsettled within collector communities.
When credible sources disagree and no answer can be independently confirmed, we may update an article to explain the uncertainty or present the competing information rather than treating one version as established fact.
Corrections vs. updates
Collect Chill distinguishes between correcting something that was wrong and updating something that has changed since publication.
For example, an incorrect release date published because we misread an official announcement is a correction.
A release date that was accurate when the article was published but was later changed by the manufacturer is an update.
The same principle applies to prices, availability, retailer listings, and other information that naturally changes over time.
How we fix mistakes
How we handle a change depends on its significance.
Material corrections: If an error changes the meaning of an article, misrepresents a source or product, or could reasonably affect a reader’s decision, we correct the information and may add a correction note explaining what changed.
When appropriate, the note will identify the incorrect information and the correction without unnecessarily repeating or preserving misleading information.
Routine updates: Prices, stock status, retailer availability, release schedules, and other time-sensitive information change frequently. We may refresh these details and update the article’s modified date without adding a correction note when the original information was accurate at the time of publication.
Small fixes: Spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, broken links, and clarity edits that do not materially change the meaning of an article may be corrected without notice.
How we handle changing sources
Sometimes an external source changes after an article is published.
A retailer may remove a listing, a brand may revise a release announcement, or information that was previously public may no longer be available.
When this affects an important claim, we may replace the source, update the wording, add context, or note that the original information is no longer available.
We do not treat every changed or removed external page as evidence that the original article was incorrect.
Article dates
Articles may display a publication date and, where appropriate, a last-updated date.
We update the modified date when an article receives a meaningful change, such as new product information, revised recommendations, significant price or availability updates, or a factual correction.
Minor formatting, spelling, or grammar changes do not necessarily result in a new visible update date.
We do not change article dates solely to make older content appear new.
How to report an error
If you believe something on Collect Chill is incorrect, please use our Contact Us form.
When possible, include:
- The URL of the article
- The specific statement you believe is incorrect
- The corrected information
- A link to an official or reliable source supporting the correction
Specific reports with supporting evidence are easier for us to investigate.
We review correction requests based on the available evidence. A submitted correction does not automatically result in a change if we cannot verify the information or if the disagreement involves editorial opinion rather than fact.
After a correction
Corrected articles generally remain published.
For material errors, we may include a correction note so readers can understand that an important part of the article changed.
We do not knowingly restore information that has been established as inaccurate.
If new evidence later changes what is known about a collectible, release, variant, or other subject, we may update the article again to reflect the best information available.
Our commitment
Accuracy matters more than pretending we never make mistakes.
Our goal is to correct meaningful errors, distinguish genuine mistakes from information that simply changed over time, and be transparent when uncertainty remains.
