There are 16 standard Jean Grey Funko Pop versions across 10 box numbers, or 17 releases if you include Phoenix Comic Cover #33. The count includes figures labeled Jean Grey, Marvel Girl, Phoenix, White Phoenix and Dark Phoenix.
If you want only one, buy Jean Grey #645. It is inexpensive, easy to recognize and has a better pose than the early Pops. For the best Dark Phoenix sculpt, choose #413 with Flame Wings. The expensive pieces are Phoenix #27 and White Phoenix #30, but neither is a sensible first purchase.

This checklist treats different colors, glow treatments and chase figures as separate versions. It does not count sticker changes as new figures when the vinyl inside is identical.
2. Which Jean Grey Pop should you buy?
| What you want | Best choice |
|---|---|
| One Jean Grey figure | #645 common |
| Early comic costume | Marvel Girl #503 |
| Green Phoenix | #422 Entertainment Earth |
| Dark Phoenix | #413 common |
| Glow chase | #413 chase |
| X-Men ’97 Jean | #1287 |
| Current retail option | Wasteland #1597 |
| Older convention piece | Phoenix #27 |
| Comic-cover display | Phoenix Comic Cover #33 |
Best first purchase: Jean Grey #645

Jean Grey #645 has the best balance of design, price and availability. The levitating pose gives it more movement than #22, #27 or #503, while recent completed sales show that both the common and Target glow versions can still be found without a large collector premium.
Choose the common unless the glow matters to you. The Target version uses the same sculpt and does not justify a much higher price.
Best Dark Phoenix: #413 common

Dark Phoenix #413 has large flame wings and a stronger shelf presence than #22 or #422. The glow chase is attractive, but current sales do not show a dramatic gap between it and the common.
The common is the better purchase for most collectors. Buy the chase because you want the glow, not because a seller calls it rare.
Best green Phoenix: #422 Entertainment Earth

The Entertainment Earth #422 has the classic green-and-gold colors, glow-in-the-dark eyes and semi-translucent hair. It is more detailed than the older Phoenix #27 and usually costs less.
Phoenix #27 makes sense for an early-Funko or convention collection. It is not the best value for someone who simply wants Jean in her green Phoenix costume.
3. The original Phoenix figures
Dark Phoenix #22

Dark Phoenix #22 is the earliest standard Jean Grey Pop. It uses Funko’s older upright body with a red costume, yellow gloves and boots, and no translucent effects.
Its value comes from age, not sculpt quality. The later #413 and #422 figures are visually stronger. Buy #22 if you collect early Marvel Pops or prefer the original Funko style.
Most copies now come from the resale market. Check for faded red paint, yellowed plastic and box damage. “Vaulted” is accurate; “rare” still needs completed-sale evidence.
Phoenix #27

Phoenix #27 shows Jean in her green-and-gold costume. Funko confirms the box number and lists the figure as retired from production. The release is associated with Emerald City Comic Con 2013. Funko
This is one of the harder Jean Grey Pops to buy. PriceCharting currently records very low sales volume, which means a single sale can move the guide value sharply. PriceCharting
Do not pay based on one marketplace listing. Check the sticker, box condition and several completed transactions. For an out-of-box collection, the newer green #422 is the easier choice.
White Phoenix #30

White Phoenix #30 was a Conquest Comics exclusive released in standard and glow-in-the-dark versions.
Both use the same box number and white costume. Because the glow version can command a substantial premium, ask for:
- Photos of all six sides of the box
- Close-ups of the exclusive and glow markings
- A dark-room photo of the actual figure
- The production information on the bottom
- Proof that the photos belong to the seller
Verified database and auction records confirm the Conquest Comics glow release. hobbyDB, Propstore
White Phoenix #30 is for collectors completing the character, not casual buyers. The green #422 and Dark Phoenix #413 offer better sculpts for far less money.
4. Dark Phoenix #413 common vs. chase
| Feature | #413 common | #413 chase |
|---|---|---|
| Flame Wings sculpt | Yes | Yes |
| Glow-in-the-dark | No | Yes |
| Chase sticker | No | Yes |
| Box number | #413 | #413 |
Funko confirms that the glow chase was packed randomly and was not guaranteed with purchase. Both versions are now vaulted. Funko
A boxless #413 should not be sold as the chase without proof that it glows. The figures look similar in ordinary lighting.
The chase is not automatically a high-value Pop. PriceCharting’s August 2026 estimate places a new chase at about $21, and recent common sales often sit in the same general range once condition and shipping are considered. PriceCharting chase, PriceCharting common
5. The four Dark Phoenix #422 versions
| Version | Color | Glow | Original channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Red | No | General retail |
| Walmart exclusive | Red | Yes | Walmart |
| NYCC version | Orange translucent | See note below | NYCC/GameStop bundle |
| Entertainment Earth Phoenix | Green | Yes | Entertainment Earth |
Standard and Walmart versions
The common #422 uses a red costume and translucent flame effect but does not glow. Walmart received a glow-in-the-dark red version using the same pose.
A translucent part does not prove that a Pop glows. Check the packaging and request a glow photo when buying the Walmart release loose.
Orange translucent NYCC version
The orange #422 came in a Pop and T-shirt set released for New York Comic Con 2019, with GameStop handling the shared U.S. version. Marvel described it as a flaming, translucent Dark Phoenix. Marvel
Collector databases disagree on whether every orange version should be classified as glow-in-the-dark. Because the original Marvel announcement did not advertise a glow feature, do not pay extra for “GITD” unless the seller shows the packaging and the actual figure glowing.
The convention and shared stickers do not create two separate vinyl figures.
Green Entertainment Earth version
Entertainment Earth received a green repaint of #422 with glowing eyes and semi-translucent hair. The retailer’s own announcement confirms the glow feature. Entertainment Earth
This is the #422 version I would buy. The green costume separates it from the three Dark Phoenix releases, and the glow is part of the official product description rather than a reseller claim.
6. Marvel Girl #503
Marvel Girl #503 shows Jean in her original green-and-yellow X-Men uniform. It was part of Funko’s Marvel 80 Years First Appearance collection.
Marvel Girl is Jean Grey, not a separate character. The different name reflects her early comic identity.
The figure has a simple pose, but the costume gives it a clear purpose. Buy #503 for an early-X-Men display. If you want a more dynamic standalone Jean, #645 is better.
7. Jean Grey #645 common and Target glow
Jean Grey #645 was released for the 20th anniversary of the first X-Men movie. It shows Jean levitating in a black-and-red costume.
The Target-exclusive version adds a glow-in-the-dark effect but keeps the same sculpt. Funko confirms that the glow figure is approximately 3.75 inches tall and now vaulted. Funko
Recent completed sales for the common and glow versions frequently fall around the original retail-price range. The exclusive sticker alone does not make the Target release expensive. PriceCharting
8. X-Men ’97 Jean Grey Pops
Jean Grey #1287
Jean Grey #1287 came in the Marvel Collector Corps X-Men ’97 box with Rogue #1288. It was not released through general retail.
This is the correct choice for an X-Men ’97 team display because it uses Jean’s primary animated-series look. Most copies now come from resellers.
Check whether the seller is offering Jean alone or the complete subscription box. A price for the full box cannot be used to value only #1287.
Jean Grey Wasteland #1597
Jean Grey (Wasteland) #1597 is an Entertainment Earth exclusive based on her later X-Men ’97 appearance. It stands approximately 3.8 inches tall.
As of August 26, 2026, Funko lists it for $14.99 and directs U.S. buyers to Entertainment Earth. The box also uses Funko’s newer Octane5 authentication label with a unique verification code. Funko
Buy #1597 at retail if you like the design. Do not pay an early resale markup while an authorized retailer still has it near MSRP.
Some marketplace listings claim a fixed production number for #1597. Funko does not publish an edition size on its product page, so that claim should not be repeated without a primary source.
9. Jean Grey with Present #1533
Jean Grey with Present #1533 is a holiday figure from the HoliDivas group. It is a Funko web exclusive and stands approximately four inches tall.
As of August 26, 2026, Funko has reduced the U.S. price from $14.99 to $7.50. Funko
At that price, it is a cheap seasonal extra. It is not a substitute for #503, #645 or #1287 if you want a Jean Grey figure that fits a normal X-Men shelf.
10. Phoenix Comic Cover #33
Phoenix Comic Cover #33 pairs the figure with the artwork from X-Men #101. Funko lists the vinyl at approximately 5.45 inches tall and the full case at 7 inches wide, 10.75 inches high and 3.25 inches deep. It is now vaulted. Funko
Count it as the seventeenth Jean Grey release, but not as a standard Pop. The larger fixed case needs more shelf space and cannot be displayed like a regular four-inch box.
11. How to value a Jean Grey Funko Pop
Search by name, box number and variant. “Jean Grey Funko Pop” is too broad for pricing because it mixes inexpensive recent releases with low-volume convention pieces.
Use searches such as:
- Dark Phoenix #413 glow chase
- Phoenix #422 Entertainment Earth
- Jean Grey #645 Target glow
- White Phoenix #30 Conquest Comics GITD
Then check:
- Completed sales, not active listings.
- Matching condition, including box damage and missing stickers.
- The exact variant, especially for #30, #413, #422 and #645.
- Sale frequency. A guide based on one sale per month is less stable than one based on regular transactions.
- Shipping and bundles. A sale including a protector, shirt or subscription-box contents is not a clean comparison.
Autographed Pops require separate appraisal. The signer, inscription and authentication from JSA, PSA or Beckett can matter more than the unsigned figure beneath the signature.
For White Phoenix #30, Phoenix #27 or another expensive older release, require current photographs, inspect the production information and use a payment method with buyer protection. A correct sticker can be copied or moved; it is evidence, not proof.
