JJ Lin’s SMG has a new BE@RBRICK, and this one lights up across the body. The BE@RBRICK GLOW SMG 400% comes with touch controls, three brightness levels, and two lighting modes.
It is also the first collaboration in MEDICOM’s new BE@RBRICK GLOW line. Even if you are not a big JJ Lin fan, the glossy purple finish and full-body lighting make this one hard to ignore.
If you are still figuring out where MEDICOM sells its figures, our guide to the Bearbrick official website and where to buy authentic BE@RBRICK covers the official store and other buying options.

The whole figure lights up
MEDICOM says the entire BE@RBRICK body can illuminate, not just a logo or one small section.
The figure includes:
- a smart touch sensor
- three brightness levels
- dynamic lighting
- static lighting
You can switch between dynamic and static lighting modes, with three brightness levels controlled through the touch sensor.
The purple finish works especially well with the lighting. Even with the lights off, the glossy body catches reflections nicely. Once the glow is on, the figure takes on a completely different look.
The SMG connection goes back to JJ Lin
JJ Lin founded SMG, so this collaboration connects directly to his creative work outside music.
Outside music, JJ Lin has long been interested in street culture, fashion, pop art, and art toys, which helps explain why SMG fits naturally into a BE@RBRICK collaboration.
SMG stands for “Still Moving Under Gunfire.”
For this release, MEDICOM uses a “speed + light” concept tied to SMG’s Racing Club direction. The racing graphics and illuminated body follow that theme.
Fans who already follow JJ Lin’s fashion projects will probably know the SMG name immediately. If you mainly know him through music, this release gives you a look at another side of his work.
You can read more about the label on the official SMG website.
Can fans outside Japan buy it?
Not directly from MEDICOM.
The official order is limited to residents of Japan, and MEDICOM states that this release cannot be shipped overseas.
I also could not verify an official U.S. retailer currently taking orders for this exact figure.
For international buyers, the places I would watch are:
- SMG’s official channels in case another sales route opens
- established BE@RBRICK retailers if they confirm inventory
- reputable resale marketplaces once the figure starts shipping
With a figure this expensive, I would avoid unfamiliar preorder sites unless they can clearly confirm their stock.
Would I buy it?
I actually don’t listen to JJ Lin that much, and I don’t closely follow everything he releases.
But the purple is absolutely my kind of color for a collection.
The glossy purple finish is what made me stop and look at this one in the first place, and the lighting makes it even better. I can easily picture it sitting on a shelf with the glow turned on at night.
The price is where I would hesitate. I would not pay a huge resale premium just because it is a JJ Lin collaboration.
But if I can find one close to retail, or at least without a ridiculous markup, I could genuinely see myself buying it.
