Not sure which Squishmallow to gift? Get them a Squishmallows gift card instead

If you know someone loves Squishmallows but have no idea which ones they already own or what they are currently hunting for, I would get them a Squishmallows gift card instead of guessing.

This is especially useful for an established collector. They might only collect certain animals, stick to one size, prefer clips, or already own the exact plush you were about to buy.

If they have sent you a specific Squishmallow they want, buy that plush. But if all you know is “they love Squishmallows,” I think the gift card is the better gift.

Does Squishmallows have a gift card?

Yes. Jazwares sells an official Squishmallows e-gift card through its online store.

The official Squishmallows gift card currently comes in four amounts:

  • $25
  • $50
  • $75
  • $100

Jazwares says the e-gift card has no expiration date. By default, the code is sent by email, and the checkout form also includes a “Send to recipient?” option where you can enter the recipient’s email address and name.

For a small birthday or casual gift, I would probably choose $25 or $50. For a bigger occasion, $75 or $100 gives the collector more room to pick what they actually want.

Why a gift card works so well for a Squishmallows collector

The hard part about buying for a collector is not finding a cute Squishmallow. It is finding the right one.

Someone might love cow Squishmallows but skip most cats. They might have stopped buying larger plushes because their shelves are full. Maybe they collect clips now. Maybe the 12-inch character sitting in your cart is already on their bed at home.

Unless you know their collection pretty well, there is a lot you can get wrong.

That is why I like the gift card option.

You are still giving them something specifically tied to the hobby they enjoy, but you are leaving the character, size, and exact release up to the person who knows their collection best.

For a collector, I think that is better than receiving another plush just because someone thought it looked cute.

It is also good when you know the brand but not their wishlist

This is probably the exact situation where I would use the gift card.

You know they talk about Squishmallows. You have seen the collection. Maybe you even know a few character names.

You just do not know what is missing.

I would not secretly try to memorize their entire shelf or start asking suspiciously specific questions about which Squishmallows they own.

Give them the choice.

A collector does not always want more Squishmallows. They usually want a particular Squishmallow that fits what they are collecting right now.

Does a Squishmallows gift card feel too impersonal?

Not to me.

A random general-purpose gift card can feel generic. A Squishmallows gift card already shows that you know what they are into.

You are just admitting that they know their own collection better than you do.

If you want to make it more personal, add a short message:

I know you love Squishmallows, but I had no idea which ones you already have. Pick one you actually want.

If I were the collector receiving it, I would prefer that over opening a duplicate.

When should you buy the actual Squishmallow instead?

If they have already told you which Squishmallow they want, skip the gift card and buy the plush.

The gift card is not automatically the better present. It is better when you do not have enough information to choose the right collectible yourself.

My order is simple:

Exact Squishmallow from their wishlist > Squishmallows gift card > random Squishmallow you are guessing they might like.

That is really the whole decision.

If I only knew someone was a big Squishmallows fan and had no clue what was already in their collection, I would pick the gift card every time. They still get a gift tied directly to something they collect, and you do not have to gamble on the character, size, or plush they want next.
